Google Security Link Quoting almost verbatim from slowfox's post:
TWiT's Security Now podcast mentioned this fantastic tip in their most recent episode, whereby you can use google to see how many security issues a given site has raised over the last 90 days. Google obviously collect this data, since they warn you about suspicious sites etc every now and again - this tip simply surfaces that information.
Unfortunately, there isn't a user-interface as such, so you have to handcraft the URL, but it's relatively straightforward:
Example: http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=google.com
This checks google's own site (and ironically reports one malicious scripting exploit found in the last 90 days).
To target a different site, you simply change the ?site=google.com bit at the end of the URL to point to the desired target.
So, to check The Grauniad's site(s), we'd use ?site=guardian.co.uk, like this:
http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=guardian.co.uk
Interestingly, Livejournal throws up several issues:
Of the 15126 pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 144 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent. The last time Google visited this site was on 2009-09-20, and the last time suspicious content was found on this site was on 2009-09-20.
Malicious software includes 3 scripting exploit(s), 2 trojan(s), 2 exploit(s).
Malicious software is hosted on 19 domain(s), including tinnily.info/, convex.ru/, lavyer.info/.
10 domain(s) appear to be functioning as intermediaries for distributing malware to visitors of this site, including lj-toys.com/, goeachscan.com/, susuman.com/.
The LJ results seem to imply that of the pages they checked, 1% were infected. So, if you've got a large flist...
OTOH, I suspect that the malicious accounts are probably clustered around certain communities. Of more concern was the warning about sites like lj-toys and stuff, because I know that some people on my former flist were using sites like those.
Currently, both Dreamwidth and Insane Journal get a clean bill of health.
Anyway, really cool google tool to play with.

![[User Picture]](http://www.insanejournal.com/userpic/101274/34428) [Link] | So... I broke the little finger on my right hand. Apparently my finger is so small that they couldn't fit a standard frog finger splint, so they have taped my little finger to my ring finger. I have now two useless fingers. It hurts like hell, well no, it doesn't hurt today with the painkillers, but it did hurt yesterday. Typing is not easy and the fingers seem to be in the way whenever I try to do anything. Oh well, at least it wasn't the thumb.

Windows update and Firefox On February this year, in one of the regular Windows updates, a Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant firefox extension was included without permission. This update adds to Firefox the ability for websites to easily and quietly install software on your PC. It is very difficult to uninstall but slowfox has excellent step-by-step instructions to disabling it.
Apparently it doesn't affect all PCs, but check out slowfox's post to make sure. This page has some more information on the matter.

![[User Picture]](http://www.insanejournal.com/userpic/101274/34428) [Link] | We had a busy bank Holiday weekend. On Saturday we took the ferry for some food and wine shopping in France, on Sunday we visited friends in Chester and on Monday we walked in Snowdonia. On Tuesday we were all knackered and just relaxed at home.
( Pictures of the beach in Wales, mountains in Snowdonia and a cute lamb )
Sorry if I haven't answered your comments. I'll get to it in a little while.

I was quickly bored, but I was just wondering: Why does the guy keep asking everybody for similar things, always using the same expressions? I very much doubt it ever works.

Sleeping alone tonight? Let's see! Sooo... My husband wants us to go camping this weekend. I say it is still too cold, he says it is warm enough. We live in the British Midlands and he wants to go a bit further North, somewhere close to Chester. I told him to pitch the tent in the garden and sleep in it tonight and we'll talk in the morning. I'll make him a thermos of hot chocolate, but still I am sure he'll be in the house before 03:00. I'll keep his side of the bed warm in the meanwhile! 8D
ETA: It is only 20:00 and he has already given up! :D Well, the kids have had a good time playing in the tent today.

Hi there! It's my birthday today!
Happy birthday to me, Happy birthday to me, Happy birthday dear meeee, Happy birthday to meeeeeeeeeee!
This morning my daughter asked me how old I was; when I told her, she looked disappointed and said: I thought you were sixteen! I almost said I wish I were, but thinking about it, if I had to revisit my younger years, I would go for my twenties, they were much more fun than any silly teens (not that I am not happy where I am now, of course).

![[User Picture]](http://www.insanejournal.com/userpic/101274/34428) [Link] | I am off to Spain tomorrow and will have only sporadic access to the 'net for the next three weeks. I want to wish all of you on my flist a happy Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or any other holiday you celebrate or neglect to. And, of course, I wish you a very happy New Year.
Thank you cynthia_black, twinkle41, rakina and the_con_cept for your cards, I loved receiving each and every one. I hope you all got mine or that you'll get them soon.
See you in 2009!

Let's see if this works LJ heidi8's pink Kodak camera and blue Sidekick LX were taken at Disney's Splash Mountain (in Disney World, Orlando)at around 4:30 PM on Saturday, June 7, and she's trying to get the SD cards that were in the camera and Sidekick back; they're the only copies she has of those photos. She's asking people to pass on this message via their LJ, blog, facebook, etc., in hopes of catching the eye of the person who took it - or someone who knows who did. If that person sees this post, they can go to her livejournal post at http://heidi8.livejournal.com/913939.html and post anonymously (it'll be screened) so she can coordinate with them about getting the cards - and, ideally, the rest of the contents of the bag - returned.

![[User Picture]](http://www.insanejournal.com/userpic/1629951/34428) [Link] | Right now I should be in Spain, but you know what? I missed my flight this morning. The booking for my return flights is still OK and I managed to get tickets to fly in tomorrow, but it wasn't cheap at this short notice. I think I'll eat something sweet and very high in calories to make up for the loss of pleasure now.
Oh, and I hate the M1. How is it possible for a motorway to be congested at 5.30am? Three lanes at a standstill for miles!

![[User Picture]](http://www.insanejournal.com/userpic/101274/34428) [Link] | This may be my last post of the year as I am off to Spain early tomorrow morning and I won't have regular access to the net.
Thanks eriador117, lilyseyes, rakina, unbroken_halo and everyone that sent me cards and/or pressies, they are very much appreciated.
I have sent all my cards although I only mailed the last one yesterday, I hope they all get there before Christmas. I might send some New Year/Twelfth Night cards from Spain, but no guarantees.
Last but not least: My The Nature of Britain calendar says 2008 is the International Year of the Bat. I'll drink to my favourite "greasy bat of the dungeons" as the New Year comes in.
Happy New Year Everyone! *Hugs*

On the move again? My husband is being transferred to London. Theoretically it is his choice, actually the situation is: If he works in London, he gets a pay rise of £4,000 p/a, if he stays were he is that's OK but the restaurant he is managing now may close in a couple of months and his redundancy money will be shit because he'll only have been working there for a little over a year. No brainer, is it?
£4,000 extra sounds great at first, but the annual season ticket from Milton Keynes to London is £4,220. If we keep in mind that those £4,000 are pre-tax, he would be worse off and with a longer commuting time.
So we come to the subject line. We may be moving again. To London or somewhere close. I am tired, we only moved to Britain two years ago in August and into this house exactly one year ago; if we move again it would be the tenth time in 13/14 years and I am tired, I am getting too old for this. Anyway, if we do move, we wouldn't do it till the summer so we don't have to change schools in the middle of the year, luckily both kids have to change schools anyway as my youngest leaves pre-school and the eldest finishes middle school. Well, that's another thing, I am supposed to send the papers to apply for new schools by the end of this month, I guess I'll still apply for the schools here and deal with finding other schools if and when (and where)we move.
I am old enough to be settled down somewhere, why aren't I?
